Alexander Rossi
WA | West Australian Rowing Club
Alex Rossi is a sculler from Perth, Western Australia, currently in his first year as a National Training Centre (NTC) scholar. A proud member of the West Australian Rowing Club, Alex is a talent in the Australian men’s sculling squad, known for his love for cooking his nonna’s recipes in his downtime.
A former Trinity College student, Alex was first coached by Catriona Walker in the Year 9 A Quad, a moment that kickstarted a journey to the world stage. He represented Australia at the 2019 Junior World Championships in the Men’s Coxed Four.
He progressed through the Under 23 ranks, competing in the U23 Men’s Quad at the 2022 World Rowing U23 Championships, where his crew placed 13th overall. Returning in 2023, Alex played a pivotal role in the U23 Men’s Quad, winning both the heat and semi-final before earning a Bronze medal in the A Final.
Alex also made his senior team debut in 2023, racing the Men’s Single Scull at the World Rowing Championships in Belgrade. After progressing through the heats and repechage, he finished 15th overall, an impressive showing in one of rowing’s most competitive boat classes.
In 2024, Alex joined the Australian Men’s Quad for the World Rowing Cup I in Italy, where the crew placed 5th in the A Final after a strong repechage win. He went on to compete at the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta in Lucerne, where the quad finished 6th in the final after a dominant heat win.
On the domestic front, Alex has secured national titles in the Senior Men’s Quad in both 2024 and 2025, and claimed victory in the U23 Men’s Single Scull in 2023.
A former junior standout in soccer and middle-distance athletics (400m and 800m), Alex ultimately chose rowing. Despite not being scouted by Real Madrid at age 8, he’s forged a path of his own.
Currently completing his Honours in Sport Science and Exercise Health at the University of Western Australia, Alex is balancing study with his 2025 performance goals: going low 5:40s in the quad and making A-Finals at World Cups. His most memorable sporting moment? Winning the Year 12 800m interschool title, where, as he puts it, "there was a lot at stake."
From East Perth to the world stage, Alex Rossi is steadily making his mark—one stroke, one race, and one well-cooked pasta dish at a time.
Alex is currently a member of the Australian Men's Quad Sculls.
