Austin “Aussie” Reinehr is a bow-side sweep rower from Ballarat, Victoria, currently in his first year as a Reinhold Batschi National Training Centre (RBNTC) scholar. A proud member of Mercantile Rowing Club, Austin has rapidly climbed the ranks of Australian rowing, combining natural athleticism, a hard-working mindset, and a love for the sport that started at St Patrick’s College in Ballarat.
A two-time U23 World Championship Silver medallist in the Men’s Four (2023, 2024), Austin has proven himself on the international stage and at home, claiming national titles in the 2025 Open Men’s Four and King’s Cup, following earlier success in the 2021 Schoolboy Coxed Four. Known for his engine and drive, he’s chasing big goals in 2025: medal at the World Championships, race strongly at World Cups, and win at the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta.
Away from the boat park, Austin is studying a Bachelor of Business and Sports Management at Deakin University and works casually in a boat repair apprenticeship. Coached first by Brendan Scott, he grew up playing AFL and cricket before committing to rowing, drawn by the opportunity to travel, compete, and be part of something bigger.
Whether he’s camping, four-wheel driving, or listening to music, Austin brings a grounded, team-first attitude to everything he does. His most memorable sporting moment? Watching his beloved Hawthorn Hawks complete their AFL three-peat.
Austin is currently a member of the Australian Men's Four Squad.
