Georgina Rowe OLY
NSW | UTS Haberfield Rowing Club
Georgie “G” Rowe is one of the most dynamic and versatile athletes in Australian rowing. A registered nurse and surf life saver, she took up rowing in 2017 and has since become a staple of the Australian Women’s Eight, competing at the highest levels of international sport across both flatwater, beach sprints and surf disciplines.
Originally from Narrabeen on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Georgie’s journey to rowing began on the erg. After winning the Australian Indoor Rowing Championships in 2016, she transitioned from a decorated surf boat and ski paddler into flatwater rowing, joining UTS Haberfield Rowing Club under the guidance of Tim McLaren and Dave Gely.
She made her debut for the Australian Rowing Team in 2018 in the Women’s Eight, medalling at the World Rowing Cups and claiming the Remenham Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta. In 2020, Georgie made headlines by breaking four world indoor rowing records—5km, half marathon, full marathon, and most metres rowed in four minutes. Three of those records still stand today.
At the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, she helped guide the Australian Women’s Eight to a fifth-place finish.
Georgie returned to the international scene in 2022, collecting medals at World Cups and again racing at Henley and the World Rowing Championships. In 2023, she won Gold at World Rowing Cup II and Bronze at the World Championships, helping Australia qualify the Women’s Eight for Paris 2024.
She returned stronger in 2024, when she competed in the Women’s Eight at the Paris Olympic Games. There, Rowe and her crew finished fourth, marking Australia’s best-ever result in the Women’s Eight at the Olympic Games.
Domestically, she’s been dominant: in 2025, Georgie won national titles in the Women’s Pair, Coxless Four, and Queen’s Cup with New South Wales at the Australian Rowing Championships.
But Georgie’s achievements aren’t confined to flatwater. Just days after her #ARC25 victories, she switched disciplines and raced for South Curl Curl at the 2025 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships. There, she won Gold in both the Open Mixed Surf Boat Relay and the Open Female Surf Boat Final, proving her unmatched ability to excel across environments.
Georgie balances her rowing career with part-time work as a Development Officer at Rowing Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing from UTS and a dual MBA/Master of Public Health from Torrens University. She’s passionate about fostering community and inclusivity within the sport and has played an active role in the Coles Start2Row program.
Her sporting foundation is rich and varied: from Manly United rep soccer and national sprint kayaking honours to state titles in surf ski and back-to-back Australian titles in surf boats. But what keeps Georgie grounded is the water itself—whether it’s the stillness of a lake or the chaos of the surf.
Her favourite sporting memories span both worlds: winning the Surf Boat Aussies in 2015 with her best mates, and her unforgettable performance in the Women’s Four at the 2024 Australian Nationals.
Georgie’s 2025 goals are all about excellence: consistency, being in the fight, and generating boat speed. With a personality as magnetic as her medal tally, Rowe continues to set the standard—not just for performance, but for resilience, leadership, and love of the sport.
Georgie is currently a member of the Australian Women's Pair Squad and Women's Eight.
