Johnson Daubney

WA | Swan River Rowing Club

Western Australian sculler Johnson Daubney, also known as "Truck", brings grit, and a country work ethic to every stroke. Hailing from the small town of Northcliffe and raised on a dairy farm, Johnson’s rowing journey began at Hale School in Perth and has since taken him to the world stage, and the top of the podium at #ARC25.

A first-year NTC Scholar and a proud member of Swan River Rowing Club, Johnson has already claimed Bronze in the Quad at the 2023 World Rowing Under 23 Championships and finished fifth in the U19 Coxed Four in 2019. In 2025, he added an Australian Rowing Championship title in the Open Men's Quad to his growing list of achievements. His focus now shifts to medalling at World Cups and capping off the 2025 Henley Royal Regatta in style.

Though originally more of a recreational AFL player, Johnson was drawn into rowing through his sister’s involvement in the sport. It wasn’t long before the rhythm of early mornings and the discipline of training became second nature, thanks in part to his farm upbringing. His first coach, Tim Widdicombe, helped set the foundation for a career built on  consistency.

Off the water, Johnson is a Commerce graduate from UWA and works casually as a rowing coach at Canberra Grammar School. His most memorable moment? Winning the 2018 PSA Head of the River in the First VIII, where he first got a glimpse of just how far rowing could take him.

Johnson is currently a member of the Australian Men's Quad Sculls.
