Paige Barr OLY
VIC | Mercantile Boat Club
Paige Barr is a determined and talented sweep rower from Bairnsdale, Victoria, who continues to rise through the ranks of Australian rowing with grit, skill, and a trademark sense of humour. A two-time National Training Centre (NTC) scholar and Mercantile Rowing Club athlete, Paige made her Olympic debut in Paris 2024 in the stroke seat of the Australian Women’s Eight, which finished fourth, Australia’s best-ever result in the event at an Olympic Games.
Paige first discovered rowing at Gippsland Grammar School in Sale, where she was named Captain of Boats. Guided by her first coach, Peter Campbell, she began rowing at the age of 15 and quickly found her stride in the sport. After school, she joined Mercantile and won her first national title in the Under 21 Women’s Coxless Four in 2021. That same year, she was selected to the U23 Australian Rowing Team and went on to claim a Bronze medal at the World Rowing U23 Championships in the coxless four.
In 2022, Paige broke through at the senior level. She helped the Australian Women’s Eight claim Gold at World Rowing Cup III in Lucerne, and later that year rowed in the three seat of the crew that placed fifth at the World Rowing Championships in Račice. She also won Silver in the U23 Women’s Single Scull at Nationals and added another national title in the U23 Women’s Quad Scull.
2023 saw Paige further cement her place in the senior squad. She once again helped Victoria win the Queen’s Cup, backed up her place in the Women’s Eight with a Gold at World Rowing Cup II, Bronze at World Rowing Cup III, and a hard-fought bronze medal at the 2023 World Rowing Championships, a standout moment in her career so far.
In 2024, Paige continued her strong form, winning Gold in the Open Women’s Eight and Four at the Australian Rowing Championships. In Paris, she was part of the historic Women’s Eight that narrowly missed the podium, placing fourth in a thrilling Olympic final.
In 2025, Paige added to her national collection with a win in the Open Women’s Quad Scull at the Australian Rowing Championships. Her goals remain simple: do her best and enjoy the sport. Off the water, she’s studying Exercise and Sport Science at Deakin University and is well known within the team for baking brownies for her crewmates when they’re in the hole.
With a growing list of international accolades, strong team values, and a grounded love for the sport, Paige Barr continues to be a powerful presence in Australian rowing, on and off the water.
Paige is currently a member of the Australian Women's Pair Squad and the Women's Eight.
