Rowing Australia welcomes continued funding support for pathway to LA 2028

Rowing Australia has welcomed the Australian Government's latest Win Well and Play Well Funding announcement, recognising it as a significant show of confidence in Rowing Australia and our high performance and participation programs.

The continued support that the Australian Government and the Australian Sports Commission provide to Rowing Australia is pivotal as the sport builds toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“We are grateful for the support of the Australian Government, Sports Minister Anika Wells and the Australian Sports Commission as we cast our gaze towards Los Angeles in 2028,” Rowing Australia CEO Sarah Cook said.

“This guaranteed funding gives us the certainty we need to plan, prepare and make sure our Rowsellas have the tools, coaching and wider support they need to reach their full potential.”

ASC CEO Kieren Perkins OAM said the investment is a huge sign of confidence in Australian sport and the system’s united commitment to Win Well and deliver elite performances in exceptional environments.

“On behalf of the Australian sports system, I’d like to thank the Australian Government, particularly Sports Minister Anika Wells, for their continued investment and for backing our athletes who inspire our nation,” he said.

“As we build towards Brisbane 2032 and beyond, a collaborative approach will continue to deliver many magical moments that will make Australians proud.”

With this backing, Rowing Australia will continue to focus on supporting the current and next generation of rowing athletes alongside our high performance coaches and performance support staff to allow them to perform at their best on the world stage.
